Breaking news: STIKO recommends booster vaccination for people over 70 years of age

Experts have long been expecting the number of corona infections to rise again in autumn. At the same time, especially in older people, the effect of the vaccine diminishes over time. The Standing Vaccination Commission recommends the particularly endangered age group over 70 to be vaccinated one more time.

In addition, residents of old people’s homes as well as nursing staff and other employees who are in direct contact with those receiving care in outpatient and inpatient care facilities are to be offered a booster vaccination, as announced by Stiko in Berlin. The same applies to staff in medical facilities with direct patient contact.
