With the discontinuation of the basic versions of the R8 V10, Ingolstadt is now concentrating on just one power model: the R8 V10 RWD. It should not only lure wealthy customers with its 570 hp. There are a few other accessories that should make you want to ride the bolide.
Audi is launching the rear-wheel drive variant (RWD) of its mid-engine sports car R8 in a more powerful performance version at the end of October. At the same time, the previous basic versions R8 V10 Quattro and R8 V10 RWD are no longer available.
The new performance variant with rear-wheel drive has an output of 570 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Newton meters on the rear wheels. The prices for the coupé start at 149,000 euros, for the Spyder the Ingolstadt-based company is calling for 162,000 euros.
Faster and with controlled drift
Compared to the previously available RWD versions, the output of the 5.2-liter V10 engine has increased by 30 hp. However, this does not affect the sprint times: As before, it takes 3.7 or 3.8 seconds (Spyder) until the 100 mark falls. At 329 and 327 km / h, however, the top speed has increased by 5 km / h in both cases.
The drive is coupled to a 7-speed S-Tronic and a mechanical limited-slip differential, which should ensure sufficient traction even on wet roads. As a little fun addition, the ESC should allow controlled drifts in sport mode.
For the first time, Audi is offering new features for the RWD versions, such as dynamic steering for a more direct driving experience. Bucket or sports seats with leather and Alcantara covers as well as cup tires in the format 245/30 R20 and 305/30 R20 are also available. As an alternative to the 18-inch steel brakes in wave design, 19-inch ceramic stoppers can be ordered for the new RWD-R8.
