The statutory health insurance companies do not want to become the henchman of state surveillance and refuse to check the corona vaccination obligation of their insured persons. It is primarily about trust – but also about the lack of paper to write to all insured persons.
The general corona vaccination requirement is currently on the brink, and a majority in the Bundestag appears extremely questionable. According to picture spget The heads of the health insurance companies are now also protesting against this interference with the physical integrity of their policyholders.
Because at Barmer, AOK and Co. there is little desire to find out who is vaccinated – and who is not – on behalf of the federal government. Because after a possible decision to vaccinate, all insured persons would have to be written to by the health insurance company and requested to be sent a vaccination certificate. People who do not answer in this regard – for whatever reason – would henceforth be listed as unvaccinated.
But even with the sending of more than 60 million letters by the health insurance companies, organizational problems would arise. Here, the health insurance companies refer to the current paper shortage in Europe and possible high costs. A position paper by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds states:
“The implementation of the entire process is impossible with the in-house and on-board resources of the health insurance companies.”
The verifiability of the vaccination certificates also represents a considerable effort. The authenticity of the certificates cannot always be determined beyond doubt either. The health insurance companies expect several million people to forget to re-register or for reasons of age, relocation or other reasons they cannot or would not be able to afford it. It is therefore not possible “to differentiate between those who forget the answer and those who refuse to answer it.” As a result, the health insurance companies would be overloaded with numerous unverifiable proofs and documents.
Last but not least, the health insurance companies would also be very concerned about trust in their policyholders if they had to make themselves the henchman of coercive state measures. According to the mirror would the reporting of unvaccinated people to “fine offices”, which “severely burdens the important relationship of trust between insured persons and health insurance companies”. The position paper says with regard to a judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court:
“Transferring control to the tills would also be wrong in terms of regulatory policy.”
The guarantee of the health insurance protection regulated by public law falls within the area of responsibility of the health insurance companies, but explicitly not state control obligations. The Vice President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Kubicki, recently warned of an “unpredictable embarrassment for the legislature” if the obligation to vaccinate finally failed because of the organization. With a view to the vaccination hardliners in the Bundestag, he said:
“It’s time that Janosch Dahmen, Karl Lauterbach and Co. distance themselves from this and bury the general obligation to vaccinate politically.”
On Monday added According to the daily news, Doris Pfeiffer, chairwoman of the GKV umbrella organization, expressed her position as follows:
“In our statement, we have never spoken out against the introduction of compulsory vaccination.”
The association only wanted to point out the practical difficulties to be expected in the event of a possible implementation of this medical intervention by the health insurance companies.
