Job Summary
DESCRIPTION
Come change the way the world uses the Cloud!
Our team builds production-ready applications for AWS’ customers. It could be anything: tools for the automotive industry to help them develop self-driving vehicles, supply chain management systems that help customers minimize carbon emissions, tooling for pharmaceutical companies to speed up drug development, and thousand other customer needs. We solve the world’s most challenging problems using great cloud technology; and if the AWS Platform does not fit the customer’s needs, we extend it. Help us to digitally transform the world!
As a Cloud Application Developer (CAD) in our team, you will work with a highly talented team of Software Development Engineers (SDE) who design, develop, test, and deploy well-architected cloud-native software solutions that are reliable, secure, high – performing, scalable, maintainable, and evolvable. You will work backwards from your customers’ needs and help your team to quickly produce outcomes. You understand how to avoid complexity through simple solutions and good abstractions. You respectfully challenge your customers’ requirements and act as ambassador for Amazon’s highest engineering standards.
Tech Stack & Working Hours
Our team works with customers from across all industries and technologies, thereby, you have the opportunity to contribute where your skills fit best and to grow new skills. Our projects typically last 4 – 12 months, starting with an initial ideation and design phase and ending with a handover after a successful deployment into production. Often, our teams work closely with the customer, eg, through regular video calls, email, chat, or online collaboration tools. As Cloud Application Developer, you also work on-site with your customer’s team, eg, to understand their requirements and help them understand how Amazon’s engineering standards will improve their software development.
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. Most projects do not involve on-call responsibilities. Some of us work from home; others prefer to work in the office. Our Cloud Application Developers enjoy traveling and working embedded in our customers’ teams where they act as ambassadors for our engineering culture. We have flexible working hours with only a few fixed points such as daily standups or weekly team calls. Of course, we are customer obsessed and also respect their schedules. Since our customers are in the European time zone, we usually find times that suit everyone.
Mentorship & Career Growth
Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior team members truly enjoy mentoring more junior members of the team. They also help software developers from non-traditional backgrounds to grow their software engineering skills through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews.
We care about your career growth. We try to assign projects and tasks based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
Inclusive team culture
Our team is intentional about attracting, developing, and retaining amazing talent from diverse backgrounds. Yes, we do get to build really cool applications, but we also think a big reason for that is the inclusive and welcoming culture we try to cultivate every day.
We’re looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, empathetic, curious, motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively with a diverse team of peers; someone who will help us amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we’ve been building.
